Hydraulics of flow over full-cycle cosine and rectangular sharp-crested weirs

Laboratory experiments were carried out to investigate the hydraulic characteristics of full-cycle cosine and rectangular sharp-crested weirs in free flow condition. The head–discharge relationships determined theoretically discharge coefficients correlated with weir geometry for both rigid erodible bed conditions. proposed model showed higher comparison weirs. three-dimensional velocity profiles measured by an acoustic Doppler velocimeter probe. effects on mean local erosion upstream studied two sediment sizes 0.7 mm 1.2 mm. time-averaged exhibited strong strength upper eddy crest location decreased increasing gap opening jet stream deflected upward due uneven sizes. maximum streamwise increased four times average at level transverse captured vortices vertical plane closest weir. effect total scour volume was It found that region than formed a same opening.
